Jeff Grandstaff Featured Panelist at Conference of Automotive Remarketing
Jeff Grandstaff is part of a panel of remarketing professionals who will be speaking to remarketers about how to find the wholesale cars they need even when supply is low.
AUBURN HILLS, MI, March 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Grandstaff, general manager of ShipCarsNow, is an authority on auto transportation for used vehicles. As part of the Conference of Automotive Remarketing, March 3-4, 2010, in Las Vegas, Grandstaff will speak to auto remarketing professionals about how auto transportation can be used to expand wholesale auto trading on the Internet. The session is titled Vehicle Sourcing Strategies in a Down Economy. The panel discussion will be moderated by Mike Linn, CEO National Independent Auto Dealers Association.
As the supply of wholesale used vehicles tightens, more remarketers are turning to the Internet to buy and sell used cars. Sourcing cars online offers remarketers a wider range and larger volume of cars to choose from. However, sourcing cars online can present new problems for the buyer and seller. The buyer is usually responsible for shipping his/her purchases back to the retail or final sale location. While some Internet auctions now provide links to transportation providers, auto shipping is not completely integrated with most used car purchases.
Jeff Grandstaff is part of a panel of remarketing professionals who will be speaking to remarketers about how to find the wholesale cars they need even when supply is low. He will address the fact that multimodal transportation options can help buyers keep transportation costs in line when sourcing cars located farther away. Multimodal auto transport (truck + rail) can be used effectively when shipping distances over 500 miles. Rail often provides better economics than truck transport. When remarketers incorporate rail with truck transport to ship used cars longer distances, shipping costs can be 20-30% less than shipping direct by truck.
The other industry executives joining Mr. Grandstaff on the panel include Don Fowler, director Data Scan Services; Jay Cadigan, president-elect of the National Auto Auction Association and regional vice president-operations Manheim; and Alan Stubbs, used vehicle director Sonic Automotive.
