Online Couriers Rising to the Challenge as Style-Savvy Shoppers Turn Increasingly to the Internet
With figures released this week showing that online clothes sales had leapt by 27 per cent in the last year, it's a busier time than ever for the couriers who bring all the latest fashions to people's front doors.
BOLTON, ENGLAND, September 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With figures released this week showing that online clothes sales had leapt by 27 per cent in the last year, it's a busier time than ever for the couriers who bring all the latest fashions to people's front doors.
Online parcel delivery agent Parcel2Go has welcomed the news, which shows that courier companies are stepping up to meet the challenge of all this extra work.
"People are clearly much more comfortable shopping online than ever, because they know delivery companies are geared up to helping make it easy for them," says Parcel2Go's Marketing Director, Richard Mercer.
Parcel2Go lets individuals and business customers choose a parcel collection and delivery service which best suits their needs, whether their prime concern is speed of delivery, cost or reliability.
"We work closely with many online retailers, providing the link between them, the home delivery service providers which are so vital to their operations, and their customers," Richard Mercer says.
The year-on-year explosion in online clothing sales was a headline feature of the August IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, which showed that Britons spent GBP5.2billilon online in the month, a rise of 14 per cent on the same month in 2010.
Online clothing sales have risen at almost double this rate, outpacing the overall growth seen in e-commerce sales which, between January and August this year, was 17 per cent.
And with online sales peaking in 2010 as the festive season approached, Mr Mercer is looking forward to Parcel2Go helping Christmas shoppers ease the strain of this annual buying surge.
"As the countdown to Christmas begins, we expect to get even busier, as people look for the most cost-effective way of sending their gifts to far-flung family and friends, and avoid the stress of high street shopping by buying their presents online instead," Richard Mercer adds.
